Happy World Health Day! I had no idea world health day was on April 7th, or even was a thing...until I was planning my social posts and the calendar had it listed. That's when the wheels started turning. I wrote a really long IG post, looked at it and thought, why don't I just write a blog post? I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Why not start today?
So here we are. My first blog post on my new website that I have had for over 6 months, and I'm writing about health. I know what you might be thinking, why on earth is a home decor site writing about health? Maybe that's not what you are thinking, because in way I think it all fits together. I view our brand not just as decor and candles, but as a way to celebrate life and family, and what better way to celebrate life and family than becoming and remaining healthy?
Health has always kind of fascinated me. My mother was a Dietitian's Aid and worked in a nursing home, one of her tasks was creating menus for diabetics, she often talked about nutrition at home and so I guess you could say I was always exposed to hearing about nutrition. I remember having a poster in the mudroom, I think I found it in a magazine and needed to have it hung up, so mom agreed I could hang it on the refrigerator in the mudroom, this poster listed many vitamins and minerals, what they do for our body and what foods we can eat to absorb them. For some reason I was infatuated with this poster and consulted it regularly, it is still hanging in my parents mudroom today. lol!
Flash forward some 20 years later, I am still very curious about food and what it can do for our body, both good and bad. The more I learn (I do invest time and money into learning about food exercise and general well being) I am so amazed at the human body, and as I become more amazed I really just stand in awe at our Creator, learning about building muscle and nutrition and holistic wellness makes me marvel at God's creation more every day. He created our bodies with the ability to fight disease, to grow strong, to build endurance, to create chemicals in our brain that release stress, He created these crazy intricate "machines" and then created the fuel to make them run. He also gave us the curiosity to learn about ourselves and His creation. So amazing!
With all that being said, I would some up with the answer to my title. Where am I on my health journey? I have learned a lot, but I am no where near having all the answers. I have so much more to learn and believe it to be a life long endeavor. I would love to invite you on my journey. Let's learn together. I'd love to share what I do know, and I'd also love to learn what you know too! Let us make a goal right here right now, to continue to learn about our health, to never stop learning. I believe I have heard is said, "Health is a journey, not a destination." Come along on this journey with me.
